Coinbase issues tokenized Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet shares on Base with 1:1 custodian backing via Abu Dhabi SPV and B20 standard for eligible non-US investors.
Coinbase has launched tokenized shares of Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet on its Base blockchain. Each token is backed one-to-one by the underlying share held by a regulated custodian through a special purpose vehicle domiciled in Abu Dhabi.
Structure and limits
The tokens follow a new B20 standard that incorporates compliance controls and handling for corporate actions such as stock splits. They are available only to eligible investors outside the United States and can be posted as collateral, swapped or deployed in other DeFi strategies on Base.
Holders receive an economic interest in the shares rather than direct ownership. Dividend treatment may differ from that of traditional share registers. Early trading volumes have been described as modest.
