Revolut Gets Preliminary OCC Nod for US National Bank Charter
Revolut cleared the first federal hurdle with conditional OCC approval on 3 September 2026, but Fed and FDIC sign-off remain pending for direct US banking services.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted Revolut preliminary conditional approval on 3 September 2026 to establish a national bank.
A national bank charter would permit the company to accept deposits, extend loans, and issue credit cards to customers in the United States without relying on partner banks.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has not disclosed the exact conditions attached to the approval.
Revolut must still obtain approvals from the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation before the charter can be issued.
No timeline has been announced for completion of the remaining federal reviews.
