Dutch Central Bank Relocates 86 Tonnes of Gold to London
De Nederlandsche Bank shifted 86 tonnes of reserves to London between March and August 2026 to improve liquidity and crisis readiness, with total holdings unchanged.
De Nederlandsche Bank moved about 86 tonnes of gold from the United States and Canada to London between March and August 2026.
The operation combined the sale of 59 tonnes in New York with equivalent purchases in London and the physical transfer of 27 tonnes from the bank's Zeist vaults.
London's share of the reserves now stands at 32.1 percent, while New York and Ottawa each hold 18.5 percent.
Total Dutch gold reserves remain 612.4 tonnes.
Governor Olaf Sleijpen said the relocation strengthens crisis preparedness amid rising geopolitical unrest, with London chosen because it allows the quickest emergency deployment.
The exact current market value of the relocated portion is not stated; the full reserve was valued at $83.77 billion at the end of 2025.
No details were released on sale or purchase prices or on the counterparties involved.
