Partnership between London Stock Exchange and Payward advances 1:1 tokenized UK equities under xStocks, with initial rollout and LSE 24 plans pending approvals.

London Stock Exchange and Payward to Issue Tokenized Versions of 100 Largest UK Equities

Payward, parent of Kraken, and the London Stock Exchange will create 1:1-backed tokenized versions of the 100 largest UK-listed equities under the xStocks framework.

The tokens are scheduled for availability in the coming weeks and are designed for 24/7 trading on centralized exchanges, self-custody wallets, and onchain applications across more than 110 markets, excluding UK and US persons.

Regulatory and infrastructure steps

London Stock Exchange CEO Julia Hoggett stated that tokenization must preserve the trust and rights embedded in regulated public markets.

Listing on the planned LSE 24 venue and any native issuance through exchange infrastructure remain subject to regulatory approval, with no details released on custody, liquidity fragmentation, or launch counterparties.
