Solana Passes SGP-0002 Governance Vote on Faster Disinflation

SGP-0002 cleared the supermajority by 0.331 points, doubling Solana's annual disinflation rate to 30 percent and shortening the path to 1.5 percent terminal inflation.

Solana Validators Pass SGP-0002 by Narrow Margin

Solana validators approved SGP-0002 on August 28, adopting the parameter change in SIMD-0550 that doubles the annual disinflation rate from 15 percent to 30 percent.

The proposal received 67.001 percent support, clearing the 66.67 percent supermajority threshold by 0.331 points. Participation reached approximately 60.7 percent, with 67 percent in favor, 25.16 percent against, and 7.84 percent abstaining.

Under the new schedule the network is projected to reach its unchanged 1.5 percent terminal inflation rate in about 2.8 years instead of 5.7 years. The proposal estimates 18.9 million fewer SOL will be issued over six years compared with the prior path.
