Cronos Chain Rollback After Tectonic Exploit

Cronos restored its chain to block 90,896,189 following the Tectonic lending protocol attack, with statements from researchers and Crypto.com on the scope and unaffected services.

Cronos Rolls Back Chain to Pre-Exploit State After Tectonic Attack

Cronos restored the chain to block 90,896,189 at 23:49:01 UTC on August 30 and resumed block production after the network halt triggered by the Tectonic exploit.

On-chain researcher Weilin Li attributed the attack to price manipulation of the TONIC governance token used as collateral and estimated roughly $75 million affected, of which about $6 million had been bridged out before the halt.

Crypto.com chief executive Kris Marszalek stated that the company's app and exchange services remained unaffected and that security teams had assisted the Cronos response.

Cronos said some RPC providers, explorers and bridges may recover later and committed to publishing a full postmortem on the incident.

No official confirmed loss figure, root-cause analysis or plan for handling attacker-controlled assets has been published, and Li's estimates remain researcher analysis rather than protocol-verified accounting.
