Public Citizen: $4.7B Losses in Trump Crypto Ventures

Public Citizen report details estimated investor losses from TRUMP meme coin, WLFI, Trump Media treasury, and trading cards since 2022.

Public Citizen Estimates $4.7 Billion in Losses Across Trump-Linked Crypto Projects

US consumer advocacy group Public Citizen estimates that crypto ventures linked to Donald Trump and his family have produced at least $4.7 billion in investor losses since 2022. The group states that most of these losses remain unrealized.

The TRUMP meme coin represents $3.2 billion of the total. WLFI accounts for at least $1 billion. Losses tied to Trump Media's digital-asset treasury stand at $450 million, and digital trading cards at $9.3 million. USD1 shows zero losses under the same methodology.

Trump reported at least $1.4 billion in crypto-related income for 2025 in a June 2026 financial disclosure. The report notes that the disclosure does not indicate any personal capital invested by Trump in these ventures.

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal requested an SEC investigation into the meme coin earlier in August, citing potential fraud or unfair enrichment of insiders at the expense of other investors.
