Santiment: ETH Exchange Balances Drop 1.4M Since June, BTC Edges Up

Santiment data shows Ethereum exchange holdings fell 1.4 million coins from June 3 to August 27 while Bitcoin balances rose 0.25 percent.

Santiment reported that Ethereum balances held on exchanges declined from approximately 7.69 million coins on June 3 to 6.28 million coins on August 27, a net reduction of 1.4 million ETH.

An additional 275,000 ETH left exchanges after August 19, bringing holdings to their lowest level in the period covered.

Bitcoin trend and remaining questions

Over the same twelve-week span, Bitcoin exchange balances increased by roughly 0.25 percent and remained near the upper end of their recent range.

The exact timing of individual withdrawals beyond the reported dates, their destinations, and whether the coins moved to self-custody, decentralized finance protocols, or other venues remain unknown from the published figures.
