Ireland Excludes Crypto From 2027 Investment Account Roadmap
Department of Finance roadmap published 31 August 2026 keeps crypto and derivatives outside the new tax-advantaged wrapper for listed equities, bonds and ETFs.
Ireland’s Department of Finance published its Investment Account roadmap on 31 August 2026, establishing that crypto assets and derivatives will remain outside the tax-advantaged wrapper scheduled for 2027 launch.
Eligible assets are limited to listed shares, listed bonds, regulated-market instruments and retail investment funds including ETFs. Crypto stays subject to ordinary taxation guidance issued by the Irish Revenue Commissioners.
Limits still pending
Contribution limits, tax-free threshold and flat tax rate will be set in Budget 2027 on 6 October 2026. Exact mechanics remain to be announced.
