Coinbase Derivatives, LLC filed Form 1-N and Coinbase Financial Markets, Inc. filed Form BD-N with the SEC on Sept. 1 to register as a security-futures-product broker-dealer.

Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad described the filings as the initial step, with CFTC product approval required next. The firm already offers equity perpetuals to eligible users outside the United States.

What remains unknown

The filings constitute notice registrations only. No CFTC approval, leverage limits, margin rules, customer eligibility criteria, or rollout timetable have been disclosed.
