Brazil Electoral Court Suspends Candidate Over Bitcoin Reserve Pledge

Brazil’s top electoral court suspended the digital campaign of presidential candidate Renan Santos and froze R$3.3 million in public funds. The move came after Santos became the only candidate to publicly support a national Bitcoin reserve.
Justice Dias Toffoli also barred Santos and running mate Aroldo Medina from debates, blocked paid ads on 16 social media profiles, and halted new disbursements from the FEFC public fund.
Santos called the ruling censorship and said he would seek an injunction.
